THEpinkSTYLE Studio Privacy Policy
Who we are
THEpinkSTYLE is an independent shop selling digital downloads on Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/THEpinkSTYLE. THEpinkSTYLE Studio (“the app”) is a private tool that the shop owner runs on their own computer to prepare Pinterest Pins for the shop’s own products and, after reviewing and approving them, publish them as organic Pins.
Scope of this policy
This policy explains what THEpinkSTYLE Studio accesses, stores and sends when it connects to Pinterest through the Pinterest API. Pinterest’s own handling of your data is described in Pinterest’s privacy policy. Etsy’s handling of shop and buyer data is described in Etsy’s privacy policy.
Pinterest permissions the app requests
The app signs in to Pinterest with OAuth and requests only these permissions (scopes):
| Permission | What the app uses it for |
|---|---|
boards:read | List the account’s boards, to find the THEpinkSTYLE boards that Pins are saved to. |
boards:write | Create a missing public THEpinkSTYLE board (for example “THEpinkSTYLE | Coloring Books”), only when the shop owner has authorized it. |
pins:read | Read back a Pin the app created, to confirm it was saved correctly, and list the Pins on THEpinkSTYLE boards so an interrupted upload is never published twice. |
pins:write | Create organic Pins that the shop owner has individually reviewed and approved. |
The app does not request access to ads, ad accounts, billing, secret boards, or other users. It does not currently read Pin or account analytics. If analytics are added in the future, this policy will be updated before that feature is used.
How the app signs in to Pinterest (OAuth)
- The shop owner connects THEpinkSTYLE’s own Pinterest account by signing in on pinterest.com and approving the permissions above (the OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow). The app never sees or stores the Pinterest password.
- Pinterest returns a one-time code to an HTTPS address on the shop owner’s own computer. The app checks the OAuth
statevalue and exchanges the code for an access token and a refresh token. - When the access token expires, the app uses the refresh token to get a new one. No other person or service receives these tokens.
Information the app reads from Pinterest
- The list of the account’s boards (names and IDs), to find or create the THEpinkSTYLE boards.
- The Pins on THEpinkSTYLE’s own boards, to check whether a Pin was already published before retrying an upload.
- Each Pin the app created, read back once to confirm it was saved with the right board, link and text.
Of this, the app keeps only the number of boards, the names and IDs of THEpinkSTYLE boards, and the IDs and URLs of Pins it created itself. It does not keep other Pins or any information about other users.
Information the app stores
All of the following is stored only on the shop owner’s computer. The app has no server, and none of this is sent to THEpinkSTYLE or to anyone else.
Credentials and tokens
- The Pinterest app ID and app secret, and the OAuth access token and refresh token issued by Pinterest, are stored in the macOS Keychain. They are not written to the app’s files, logs or download packages.
Connection details
- Whether the app is connected, which Pinterest environment it uses (sandbox or production), the number of boards on the account, the names of existing THEpinkSTYLE boards, and the time the connection was last checked.
Pin records
- For each Pin the app prepares or publishes: the product it promotes, the Pin images it generated, the Pin title, description, alt text and destination link (the product’s Etsy listing), the chosen board, the Pinterest Pin ID and URL, the board ID, the upload and verification status, and any error or verification details. Search keywords used in the Pin copy are stored with the draft.
- Review records: the name the shop owner enters when approving or rejecting Pins, the time of each decision, and a log of actions such as “Pin uploaded”.
- Upload permissions the shop owner sets: who granted them, when, daily Pin limits, and whether they are paused or revoked.
The app does not collect information about people who view, save or click the Pins, and it does not store the content of other people’s Pins or accounts.
Information the app sends to Pinterest
When the shop owner approves a Pin and an upload is authorized, the app sends Pinterest the Pin image, title, description, alt text, destination link and target board. A Pin links only to the product’s own published Etsy listing. If a THEpinkSTYLE board does not exist yet and the shop owner has allowed it, the app sends the new board’s name and description.
Sharing
THEpinkSTYLE does not sell, rent or share information obtained through the Pinterest API, and does not use it for advertising. Information leaves the shop owner’s computer only when it is sent to Pinterest to create or read the shop’s own boards and Pins, as described above.
Retention and deletion
- Local records are kept on the shop owner’s computer until the shop owner deletes them. The app has no automatic deletion schedule.
- Tokens stay in the macOS Keychain until they are removed there or replaced by a new connection. Access can also be revoked at any time from the Pinterest account’s settings; revoked tokens stop working.
- The app does not delete Pins. Pins it published remain on Pinterest until the account owner removes them on Pinterest.
- To stop the app’s access completely, the account owner revokes THEpinkSTYLE Studio in the Pinterest account’s settings and removes the THEpinkSTYLE Pinterest entries from the macOS Keychain. Deleting the app’s local Pinterest folder removes all local Pin records.
- To ask about or request deletion of any information, email us at the address below.
Security
The app’s safeguards are:
- Secrets and tokens are kept in the macOS Keychain instead of files.
- The app’s dashboard accepts connections only from the same computer (localhost).
- The Pinterest sign-in returns to an HTTPS address on the same computer, and the app checks the OAuth
statevalue to reject forged sign-in responses. - Every request to Pinterest is checked against a short list of allowed board and Pin operations, so the app cannot call advertising or other endpoints.
- Error messages are scrubbed of tokens before they are shown.
No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, and these measures cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
The app works only with THEpinkSTYLE’s own Pinterest account and does not collect personal information about other people. If you have a question about this policy, or believe the app holds information about you, please contact us and we will respond and, where applicable, delete it.
Children
THEpinkSTYLE Studio is a private business tool. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s use of Pinterest data changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
